Bean Honey

Bean Honey is a product entered on the list of traditional products, characteristic of Roztocze. It has a strong aroma coming from bean flowers.  Bean honey is not very sweet and slightly sour. It should be remembered that it is a natural nectar honey. Although the name indicates a legume - the taste of the honey depends solely on the sweet nectar :)

Interestingly, Roztocze is one of the least cloudy and most sunny areas of Poland in the summer, and it is thanks to this that the local climate conditions are perfect for growing beans. In 2005, bean honey was entered on  the list of traditional products from the Lublin province  by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. It is the showcase of Roztocze, where the "Piękny Jaś" pole bean is grown. The fields where pole beans grow stretch primarily in the Szczebrzeszyn Landscape Park (in towns such as Zaburze, Gorajec, Czarnystok, Mokrelipie and Wólka Czarnostocka). The local microclimate allows for obtaining delicious  bean honey from Roztocze , and all this in cooperation with our hard-working bees, which find benefit in the bean field.

Bean Honey properties:

Color:  In liquid form it is straw colored, and once it crystallizes its color becomes tea-colored to creamy white depending on storage conditions.

Taste:  Not too sweet, even slightly sour.

Fragrance:  Aroma of bean flowers.

Storage:  Dry and shaded place (temp. 8-18 C)

Flowering time:  June/July

Crystallization:  Medium  crystallization.

Due to its healing properties, bean honey is becoming more popular year by year and is gaining loyal gourmets :)

Bean Honey - how and when to use?

Bean honey has a very good effect on many organs and systems in our body and perfectly improves its functioning. For example, it supports the work of the heart and the functioning of the entire circulatory system, and the positive effects of its consumption will certainly be felt also in the digestive system. People who suffer from stomach or intestinal diseases, eating it will alleviate these ailments - among other things, by accelerating the renewal of microorganisms that ensure proper digestion. It will also be beneficial for those who simply have weakened immunity and often get the flu and various types of colds and infections. Bean honey strengthens the immune system and in this way makes the body able to better defend itself against various viruses and bacteria that attack it. It is worth  using bean honey both when we already have the flu or a cold, as well as prophylactically. In addition, it provides the body with many valuable nutrients and regenerates it.
